Herdsmen kill 3 police officers, two vigilantes in Taraba

Three Police officers and two vigilante personnel have been killed by suspected herdsmen at Bajum Kasuwa Lau local government area of Taraba state A community leader in the affected local government, said the deceased were killed in an ambush by suspected herdsmen while trying to rescue some kidnapped victims. Confirming the incident, the state police command Public Relations Officer , ASP David Misal, said the state Commissioner of Police, has ordered investigation into the attack. The remains of the deceased security personnel have been deposited at Federal Medical Centre Mortuary in Jalingo, the state capital.

Flood destroys 3.700 card readers at INEC office in Edo State

Over 3,700 card readers have been destroyed by flood at the Edo State headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), prompting the commission to consider relocating the state headquarters. According to The Nation, workers usually had to scamper for safety whenever there is heavy downpour. This has been the situation for three weeks. Abubakar Nahuche, Chairman, INEC Standing Committee on Estate and Works, who spoke after the recent damage was assessed, noted that several electoral materials were destroyed. According to him, Information Communication Technology equipment was also damaged. However, he said the incident would not affect the commission’s preparation for the 2019 elections. He appealed to state government to address the issue of flooding in Ikpoba-Hill area, where the state headquarters is located. NCC to sanction telecoms companies for "call masking"

The Nigerian Communication Commission has said that it will impose appropriate sanctions on any telecoms operator that allows the illegal masking of international calls. Call masking refers to termination of international calls with local telephone numbers displayed on a receiver’s phone screen. Alhaji Ismail Adedigba, Deputy Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau of NCC told News Agency of Nigeria in Yenagoa on Friday that the trend was illegal and fraudulent. He said: NCC is focused on the protection of consumers in the telecommunications space in Nigeria and the development of the sector over the years has thrown up contemporary challenges in the industry like call masking. We have outlawed it and we encourage subscribers who receive international calls with local numbers showing on their phone screens to report to us in NCC by calling our toll free number 622.
